Sjømannskirken - Norwegian Church Vancouver 2010 is happy to
welcome Norwegians and friends of Norway in Whistler to Maurice
Young Millennium Place during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic
Games.
Sjømannskirken - Norwegian Church Abroad has 50 operations
around the world. Our churches serve as a cultural, social and
spiritual meeting place for Norwegians abroad. We follow our
countrymen to where they are - and from February 12 - 28th, 2010,
many of them will be in Whistler for the Olympics - including
tourists, supporters, athletes and journalists.
We will offer the best of our Sjømannskirke tradition: the
feeling of a home away from home with waffles, coffee, Norwegian
newspapers and Norwegian TV. We also will celebrate two Christian
services during the Olympics - one of them will be an ecumenical
service together with the local churches in Whistler.
We cooperate with the Norwegian Embassy regarding state-related
activities during the Games period, as well as with the Norwegian
Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports, and
NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation).
"We are very excited to be located in Maurice Young Millennium
Place during the 2010 Games because it puts us in the heart of
Whistler Village, close to the Whistler Medals Plaza where we hope
to celebrate the successes of many Norwegian athletes and enjoy the
international ambience of Whistler", says Asbjorn Vilkensen,
Operations Manager for the Sjømannskirken - Norwegian Church
Abroad.
Sjømannskirken will be open daily during the Olympic Games from
10am until 10pm.
Welcome to Sjømannskirken!
