Velkommen til en temakveld om norsk historie i New York! I hundrevis av år har nordmenn søkt lykken i USA. De fleste kom i land på Ellis Island og endte opp i New York.
Lars Nilsen er utdannet mekanisk ingeniør og har jobbet for både Boing og Grumman. Han ble senere finansiell rådgiver for Paine Webber og visepresident for Morgan Stanley. I over 60 år har han viet mye av sin tid til the American Scandinavian Society hvor han de siste årene har vært president og co-chair for Norwegian Immigration Association. Denne kvelden vil han gjennom video-opptak og historier fortelle om hvordan det var å vokse opp som norsk immigrant i New York.

Welcome to an evening dedicated to Norwegian history in New York! For hundreds of years Norwegians has searched for a better life in the USA. Most of them came to Ellis Island and ended up in New York.
Lars Nilsen is a graduate mechanical engineer who has worked for Boing and Grumman. He later became a financial advisor at Paine Webber and a vice president in the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney joint venture. In over 60 years he has dedicated lots of his time to the American Scandinavian Society where he for the last 5 years has been President in addition to co-chair for the Norwegian Immigration Association. This evening he will through video and stories tell us the history of Norwegian immigration in New York.
