Information in English

Our church has been in New York since 1878 and we are still the hub for Norwegian’s and Norwegian culture in New York City.

317 East 52nd Street has been our home since 1992. Here we have welcomed Norwegian’s and those interested in our culture through our doors.

Services are held every Sunday at 11am. The services are held in Norwegian, but are of course open to everyone.

Baptism, confirmation, weddings are all part of the services provided by the Church. We also regularly have an outreach to Norwegians in New York area, home visits to the elderly, meeting with students or other groups or individuals. Our pastoral staff are available for counseling.

The church is an active part of the community, hosting events on a regular basis. On Wednesday to Sunday the Church is open with coffe and waffles from 12pm. Saturdays we serve traditional Norwegian Rice Porridge. Concerts and other cultural events are also an important part of our work. To see what goes on follow this link to our calendar.

Trygve Lie Gallery, named after the first Secretary General of the United Nations, is our art space. Several times a year we host exhibitions and workshops in the gallery. You can read more about the gallery at this link.

If you are on Facebook we recommend you like our page: Sjømannskirken i New York.

As a non-profit the Church is depended on your donation, which is of course tax-deductible. You can give your gift to us, by following this link.
